Materials and construction

Ordinary paper for a first trial; scissors; ruler; a blunt scoring tool; a small amount of paper adhesive.

Before making a batch

Measure slot placement and depth.

Test the actual napkin fold and paper stock.

Inspect both slot endpoints after repeated removal.

Three strips: 180 x 25 mm.

Opposed slots: 15 mm from each end, 13 mm deep.

Nominal slot-to-slot length: 150 mm.

From file to finished page

Cut the strips, then cut each short solid slot to its stop mark.
Curl a strip around a dry trial napkin. Do not fold or crease the whole band.
Bring the two ends together with the slots facing opposite edges.
Slide one slot through the other gently until the two strip edges align. Do not enlarge the slots by tearing.
Check that the ring can be removed without damaging the napkin or stressing the slot ends.
