Materials and construction

Ordinary paper for a first trial; scissors; ruler; a blunt scoring tool; a small amount of paper adhesive.

Before making a batch

Count six body loops with intact overlaps.

Check the head does not pull the first loop out of shape.

Check small attachments before supervised display.

Six body strips: 110 x 18 mm; each includes a 10 mm joining zone.

Head: 45 x 38 mm.

Two antenna strips: 30 x 5 mm.

From file to finished page

  1. Cut six body strips, the head and the two short antenna strips.
  2. Join the first body strip into a loop using its 10 mm marked overlap.
  3. Thread the next strip through the first loop before joining it. Repeat until all six loops form a chain.
  4. Fold the lower ends of the antenna strips behind the head and attach them with small paper tabs.
  5. Attach the head to the first loop. Display the finished chain on a table rather than wearing or hanging it.
