Explore a quilt effect using paper
The four-patch uses four complete squares; the pinwheel uses eight half-square triangles. Shaded numbered spaces show where a contrasting group goes.
This is a paper composition study. A fabric version would need its own seam allowances, material behavior and sewing plan; none is added to these cut lines.

Two 100 mm paper block layouts: a four-patch and a pinwheel, with exact-size matching component shapes.
From file to finished page
- Choose the paper size loaded in your printer and open the matching PDF.
- Print the matching paper edition at actual size (100%). Measure the printed 50 mm line before cutting. The screen preview is not a measurement test.
- Cut the four 50 mm squares and eight right-isosceles triangles. A pair of triangles fills one 50 mm square; no seam allowance is included.
- On the four-patch board, arrange the four square pieces into a 2 x 2 block before gluing.
- On the pinwheel board, place the eight numbered triangles in their matching spaces. Color triangles 1, 3, 5 and 7 dark to match the shaded spaces; use a light color for 2, 4, 6 and 8. The four dark wedges rotate around the center.
- Color or trace the templates onto colored paper, leaving the geometric edges unchanged.
- Mount the pieces to paper backing. These are paper-craft block studies, not sewing templates: fabric seams, shrinkage and cutting allowances are not supplied.
Printing and use notes
The dimensions describe the flat pattern and fold lines, not guaranteed internal capacity.
Physical printing, fit and assembly have not been tested. Make a scrap-paper trial before using special stock.
This is a decorative or organizational paper project, not protective shipping packaging, food-contact material or a load-rated container.
