Materials and construction
Ordinary paper for a first trial; scissors; ruler; a blunt scoring tool; a small amount of paper adhesive.
Before making a batch
Check the pleats alternate and the two joining zones overlap fully.
Record whether the ring can flatten without tearing.
Check both centre discs hold all pleats securely.

Two strips: 180 x 25 mm, each with a 10 mm joining zone.
Pleat pitch: 5 mm outside the joining zones.
Centre discs: 32 mm diameter; tails: 22 x 75 mm.
From file to finished page
- Cut both long strips, two centre discs and two notched tails.
- Score the marked 5 mm lines and alternate folds, leaving the 10 mm joining zones flat.
- Join the strips end-to-end, then close them into a pleated ring. Dry-position before committing the joins.
- Gently bring one long edge of the ring toward its centre to flatten the rosette. Secure a disc on each face at the centre.
- Attach the two tails behind the lower disc and add your own words to the front disc after the joins have set.
Printing and use notes
Final diameter depends on folding and stock; no exact finished diameter is promised.
Decorative award only; no badge pin or wearable fastener.
