Materials and construction
Plain paper for a first trial, a ruler, scissors and a blunt scoring tool; adult help for internal cuts.
Before making a batch
Measure the 50 mm reference and at least two named panel dimensions.
Assemble an empty plain-paper trial; record closure, seam, clearance and material behavior.

Four envelope panels: 88 x 58 mm. Message panel: 160 x 100 mm, divided into four nominal 80 x 50 mm interlocking pieces.
From file to finished page
- Write a message across the uncut message panel, avoiding tiny writing on cut edges.
- Cut along the outer rectangle and the two shaped internal dividing lines. Keep the four pieces in their original order.
- Assemble the four envelopes as shown by their fold and glue marks.
- Place one puzzle piece in each numbered envelope. Test the piece with the largest tab before making a batch.
- The recipient opens all four envelopes and reconstructs the shared outline before reading the message.

Do not place valuable, wet, hot or breakable items in an unreviewed paper prototype.
