Step-fold greeting card base / LETTER

Materials and construction
Ordinary paper for a trial; ruler; scoring tool; scissors and an adult-operated craft knife with a cutting mat for the internal slit.
Before making a batch
Check the slit stops 30 mm from each end.
Check that all step creases stop at the slit.
Record standing stability and any tearing at the slit ends.

Flat base: 140 x 180 mm.
Internal slit: 120 mm long, 50 mm from the left side.
Step creases: 30 mm pitch; large-panel crease: 90 mm.
From file to finished page
- Cut the outside rectangle. On a protected surface, cut only the solid internal slit between its two stop marks.
- Score the 90 mm crease across the continuous left panel. Score the five marked creases on the right section.
- Fold the continuous panel into a tent at its central crease.
- Starting at the near edge, alternate folds in the right section to form the side steps. Keep both slit endpoints intact.
- Stand the undecorated card on a flat surface. Adjust the creases gently before adding very light paper decoration.
