Materials and construction
Plain paper for a first trial, a ruler, scissors and a blunt scoring tool; adult help for internal cuts.
Before making a batch
Measure the 50 mm reference and at least two named panel dimensions.
Assemble an empty plain-paper trial; record closure, seam, clearance and material behavior.

Base: 50 x 40 mm panel and 20 mm walls.
Barrel lid: 25 mm radius, 78.54 mm arc skin and 40 mm depth; two semicircular ends.
From file to finished page
- Cut all supplied parts with their corner tabs attached and score the marked folds.
- Raise the base tray walls. Glue each shaded corner tab behind its adjacent wall and let the tray dry square on a flat surface.
- Gently curve the barrel lid skin. Fold its small end tabs inward and glue them behind the two semicircular end pieces, keeping the straight lower edges level.
- Fold the separate 40 x 14 mm hinge in half. Glue one 7 mm half along the inside back rim of the tray and the other half to the inside back edge of the lid. Leave the hinge crease free and check that the lid swings open.

Do not place valuable, wet, hot or breakable items in an unreviewed paper prototype.
