Keep the strips loose enough to correct a crossing while you work. Compare each new row with its chart before adding the next. The pattern distinction lies in the actual sequence, not just the color of the strips.

A 140 × 140 mm foundation, twelve 140 × 9 mm crossing strips, and a 3-row weave sequence.

From file to finished page

  1. Cut the outer square. Fold crosswise on the dashed centerline.
  2. Cut each slit from the fold to its stopping dot. Keep the 10 mm outer rails intact; do not cut through the border.
  3. Unfold and flatten. Page 2 has crossing strips; keep the page 3 chart nearby.
  4. Use contrasting paper. Cut all 12 crossing strips, each 140 x 9 mm.
  5. Start row 1 at the top. Follow page 3 from left to right: dark = strip OVER; white = strip UNDER.
  6. Slide rows together. Check the pattern, then tuck and secure ends at the side rails.
  7. Repeat rows 1-3 for all 12 rows. O = over; U = under. Read left to right, even when inserting a strip from the other side.
