Use this packet’s chart with its foundation and strips; it is not interchangeable with the plain or balanced-twill chart.
Watch the sequence advance
Keep the strips loose enough to correct a crossing while you work. Compare each new row with its chart before adding the next. The pattern distinction lies in the actual sequence, not just the color of the strips.

A 140 × 140 mm foundation, twelve 140 × 9 mm crossing strips, and a 3-row weave sequence.
From file to finished page
- Choose the paper size loaded in your printer and open the matching PDF.
- Print at actual size and measure the 50 mm reference line before using physical measurements.
- Cut out the 140 × 140 mm foundation. Fold on the horizontal center guide so the slot lines meet the folded edge. Cut each of the 13 slots only between its marked ends, leaving the 10 mm rails intact. Unfold flat.
- Cut the twelve separate crossing strips on sheet 2. Each is 140 × 9 mm; use a contrasting paper so the crossings remain easy to read.
- Work left to right from the top row of the chart on sheet 3. The pattern repeats over two, under one; a filled chart square means the crossing strip is on top. Follow the first cell of each row rather than restarting every row the same way.
- Slide each completed strip gently against the preceding row. Keep the outer ends even and avoid pulling hard enough to tear a rail.
- Use a small amount of adhesive only at the strip ends once the chart and the woven piece match. Leave the open weave flexible while adjusting it.
- Use this as a paper decoration or sample, not a heat-resistant coaster. Test the method on scrap before using special paper.
