Materials and construction

Ordinary paper for a first trial; scissors; ruler; a blunt scoring tool; a small amount of paper adhesive.

Before making a batch

Verify both different fold sequences.

Check the middle of the strip is not glued down.

Open and close fully without bending the free strip.

Base: 160 x 85 mm, folded at 40 and 80 mm.

Strip: 160 x 22 mm, folded at 80 and 120 mm.

End attachment zones: 20 mm.

From file to finished page

  1. Cut the base and narrow strip. Score only their dashed fold lines.
  2. Fold the base into a Z: the first two panels are 40 mm wide and the third is 80 mm wide.
  3. Fold the narrow strip in the opposite sequence: one 80 mm panel and two 40 mm panels.
  4. Dry-position the strip across the front of the folded base. Attach only the marked 20 mm end zones; leave the middle free.
  5. Open and close slowly before decorating. If the strip pulls a panel out of square, release and reposition its end join.
