Materials and construction

Plain paper for a first trial, a ruler, scissors and a blunt scoring tool; adult help for internal cuts.

Before making a batch

Measure the 50 mm reference and at least two named panel dimensions.

Assemble an empty plain-paper trial; record closure, seam, clearance and material behavior.

4 wall panels, each 34 mm wide; height between main end folds 52 mm; seam flap 8 mm.

From file to finished page

  1. Cut the perimeter and score all marked panel and flap hinges. Cut out the marked window rectangles before folding.
  2. Fold the four walls into a square tube. Glue the 8 mm shaded side flap behind the first wall and keep the tube square while it dries.
  3. Fold two opposite bottom flaps inward, then fold the other pair over them. Glue the overlapping bottom areas and let the empty carton dry on a flat surface.
  4. Fold the three short top flaps inward first. Fold the long flap across the opening and tuck its plain end inside the opposite wall. Open and close the empty carton without forcing the flap.
  5. Use this as an unlit paper display. Keep flame, candles and heat sources away.
