Materials and construction
Plain paper for a first trial, a ruler, scissors and a blunt scoring tool; adult help for internal cuts.
Before making a batch
Measure the 50 mm reference and at least two named panel dimensions.
Assemble an empty plain-paper trial; record closure, seam, clearance and material behavior.

Base panel: 40 x 40 mm with 22 mm walls. Closure leaves fold over the base.
Opposing edge-connected half-slits terminate over the base center, 20 mm from their leaf hinges.
From file to finished page
- Cut the complete perimeter, keeping the four shaded corner tabs attached. Cut each edge-connected closure slit exactly to its endpoint.
- Score the base edges and closure hinges. Raise the four walls and glue each corner tab behind its neighboring wall. Leave the decorative leaves free of adhesive.
- Fold two opposite leaves inward. Slide their edge-connected half-slits into each other until the slit endpoints meet over the base center.
- Close the remaining pair in the same way above the first pair. Flex the leaves gently; do not pull against the narrow hinges.
- Open and close an empty plain-paper trial before choosing card. Check the hinges for tearing and record the actual closure behavior.
Printing and use notes
Nominal drawing dimensions are not a tested usable-capacity, load, mailing, food-contact or archival specification.
Do not place valuable, wet, hot or breakable items in an unreviewed paper prototype.
