Pop-up reading nook card
Reveal a little bookshelf, then tell a two-sentence story. Print the one-piece card and follow the illustrated cut-and-fold instructions.
Sample story: “The book I chose is about a fox who borrows the moon. Inside it I found a map home.” Choose a drawn book and invent your own two sentences.
Why the bookshelf stays attached. The step is part of the same card, held by the uncut ends of its band. Reverse-folding that band brings the drawn books forward when you open the card near 90°. Keep those ends intact: there are no separate books to glue in. The two story prompts leave the words to you.

One card, two ways to share a story
Choose Reading Nook when the opening reveal is part of the gift or activity. Its bookshelf step stays attached to the card.
Start with one complete PDF
US Letter · complete 2-page PDF · A4 · complete 2-page PDF. Page 1 makes one card; page 2 is the cut-and-fold guide. Choose the paper in your printer. Start with ordinary paper, scissors and a ruler; no glue or backing is needed.
Tell it aloud or give it in writing
For a shared story moment, choose a drawn book and say the two prompts aloud. For a book gift, write your two-sentence story inside and a short dedication on the blank outer face. A pen is the only extra for the written version.
Next: Make the one-piece card, then close and reveal it with the illustrated guide below. Follow the same illustrated guide for either use. Download this print-only card separately; it has no Studio or Print Tray version.

Reading nook card / LETTER
Make a small reading-reveal card
The opened card has a little step with three drawn book spines facing outward and a window behind it. The step stays joined to the card: there are no loose books, glue tabs or backing pieces to attach. Give it closed, then open it near 90° to reveal your story.
Choose the complete file
Each file has two pages: page 1 is the actual-size one-piece card; page 2 has the numbered cut-and-fold diagrams. Choose the paper in your printer: US Letter — complete 2-page PDF or A4 — complete 2-page PDF. Use page 1 for cutting; page 2 and the opened illustration above are guides, not cutting templates.
Cut, reverse-fold and reveal
You need matching paper, a printer, scissors and a ruler; a pen is optional. Start with ordinary paper. Print single-sided at 100% / Actual size, and measure the 50 mm bar on page 1 before cutting.
Blue dashed marks are valley folds; orange dash-dot marks are the reverse mountain. Keep all uncut band ends as integral hinges.
- Cut the solid outer 180 × 140 mm rectangle, keeping the card in one piece. Do not cut any dashed fold marks.
- Temporarily fold the whole center spine with the printed faces outside. The two solid half-slit marks remain visible.
- From the folded edge, cut each marked 25 mm half-slit to its endpoint and stop. Open the card: each complete slit is 50 mm long. Keep the uncut band ends joined.
- Reverse the ordinary spine outside the band (x90 outside y52–88) so the printed faces are inside. Fold both ends of the band at x65 and x115 as valleys, bringing printed faces toward one another. Push the central band ridge into the card as the opposite mountain fold; all fold directions are viewed from the printed face.
- Tuck the band between the halves and close gently. Reopen near 90°: the printed books face outward on the vertical step front, the step roof is above, and the window is on the rear card face.
- Choose one drawn book and say or write the two printed prompts. Add a short dedication on the unprinted outer face if you like. Give or share the card closed, then reveal the story.

Give the book a story
Try an imagined book: “The book I chose is about a fox who borrows the moon. Inside it I found a map home.” Use your own two sentences; there is no right answer. For a book gift, an outer-face dedication could be “For someone who always has another chapter to share.” The blank outside is not a measured writing box.
If a fold catches
Stop and ease the folds into their stated directions. Never force the band or cut through its integral hinges. Close and reveal gently. The ideal geometry was digitally checked; physical assembly, paper strength and durability have not been tested.
Make one card, then reveal a story
Start with one sheet of ordinary printer paper and one drawn book to talk about. The example above turns the printed prompts into a fox-and-moon story; your own two sentences can be about any imagined book.
Choose the card and instructions together
Each US Letter or A4 print PDF has two pages: page 1 is the one-piece 180 × 140 mm card and page 2 gives the cut and reverse-fold sequence. Choose your printer paper and check the 50 mm reference at actual size. Keep the card’s integral hinges intact; no glue or backing card is needed.
A different way to give a reading gift
Follow the illustrated steps above, close gently and reopen to reveal the bookshelf. If you want a flat keepsake without cutting and reverse-folding a card, choose a Woodland dedication bookmark. The card is print-only, without Studio or Print Tray support.

Printing and use notes
The digital model proves geometry and ideal flat closure. Paper thickness, fold radius, stiffness, wear, print accuracy and actual handling were not physically tested. Use ordinary paper first and close gently; do not force a catching fold. No strength, durability, toy-safety, standing stability or participant-time claim.
Digital illustrations and ideal fold geometry are not photographs or physical assembly tests.
Individual Letter and A4 PDFs; no tool or Print Tray support.
