Materials and construction

Ordinary paper for a first trial; scissors; ruler; a blunt scoring tool; a small amount of paper adhesive.

Before making a batch

Verify the two end overlaps are each 10 mm.

Measure the actual coaster stack and record corner clearances.

Test sliding the band off without separating a seam.

Two pieces: 130 x 25 mm each.

Per piece: 100 mm face + 20 mm side + 10 mm joining zone.

Nominal closed loop: two 100 mm faces and two 20 mm sides.

From file to finished page

  1. Cut both strips and score each at 100 and 120 mm.
  2. Join the first strip's 10 mm tab behind the beginning of the second strip.
  3. Dry-fold the four main panels around a paper dummy 100 mm wide and 20 mm thick.
  4. Check the remaining tab reaches its mating face without squeezing the dummy. Join only after this trial.
  5. Try the actual stack gently and record its dimensions. Do not force a stack that is wider or thicker than the dummy.

Check the fit with your actual stack before gluing the final join.
